Fun storylines surrounding Eagles vs Jaguars game ahead of kickoff
The Eagles look to avoid letting the Jaguars end a nine-year drought of consecutive road wins.
While the 2022 Birds would be making history by being just the sixth team in franchise history to start a season with a 4-0 record, the Jaguars are tough and will do all they can to keep that from happening.
While the Jaguars have improved, they still have a long way to go. During the past two years, they’ve earned the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft twice. The Eagles have made the playoffs in four of the past five seasons.
It has also been nine seasons since the Jaguars won consecutive games on the road.
As many NFL fans know, being able to compete on the road is a big part of winning in the NFL. If a team can’t win on the road, they can’t finish a season over .500. Something that the Jaguars have only done once since 2008.
The last time the Jaguars won consecutive games on the road was 2013. They defeated the Houston Texans in Houston in week 12 of 2013, then went to Cleveland and defeated the Cleveland Browns in week 13 of 2013.
Following the Jaguars’ impressive upset win in Los Angeles against Justin Herbert and the Chargers, the Jaguars will now have the chance to end that drought this week. The undefeated Eagles, soaring off of dominating their division rival Washington Commanders, who the Jaguars lost to in week one, stand in the Jaguars’ way of this feat.
The Eagles are currently six as 6.5 point favorites versus the Jaguars, but the Chargers were also favored to win by the same margin. If this Eagles team wants to prove they are different than the Eagles of old, they’ll have to prove it and not allow Jacksonville to play spoiler.
