Reasons Eagles lost Super Bowl 57 other than that terrible call

Quez Watkins was given too many snaps. That and a couple of bad breaks did the Eagles no favors.

We’ll be honest. We like Quez Watkins, but we aren’t sure that we want him on our football team. He isn’t going anywhere, but there needs to be a serious discussion about whether he’s good enough to be this team’s third wide receiver. Zach Pascal is a better player. He just isn’t as fast.

Quez saw 42 snaps on Sunday, and he dropped a huge deep-ball opportunity. Zach was given 21 snaps. That one truly doesn’t make any sense.

The fumble (and the play that preceded it).

The Jalen Hurts fumble hurt, but he bounced back nicely and atoned by doing what he always does, by answering the adversity. He led his team to a touchdown on Philly’s ensuing drive, but here’s where we can throw in some what-ifs.

What if Isaac Seumalo hadn’t jumped offside on the attempted quarterback sneak that preceded Jalen’s fumble? Are we even having this discussion? Clearly, we’ll never know.

The field conditions were horrible.

Sure we could talk about field conditions from the perspective of slippage and bad footing, but here’s something else to consider. The ball is snapped on every play, but it always touches the playing surface first. Could that have led to Jalen’s issue with handling the ball on that fumble?

It is a possibility, right? But again, we’ll never know.
