. . . Tariq Woolen. 7. player. 36

Tariq Woolen is yet another NFL star with track experience. Are you noticing a trend here?

During the 2022 NFL Combine, Tariq Woolen wowed everyone at the event, posting a 4.26-second time in the 40-yard Dash. That was good for a second-place finish among all prospects that year.

Woolen was a football and track star in high school who became a defensive back during his junior season at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He posted 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four pass deflections, and one interception during the campaign.

During his senior season, he collected 25 tackles, five pass deflections, and one interception. That earned him an invitation to the Senior Bowl. There’s no other way to describe this. He was a steal by the Seattle Seahawks during the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

In year one at the professional level, he recorded 60 tackles, recovered three fumbles, and racked up six interceptions in his first season. He also returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown.

Tariq also became the first rookie in ten years to record an interception in four straight games of an NFL season. For his efforts, he was named to the Pro Bowl and the PFWA All-Rookie Team for his outstanding season.
