Josh Jacobs and Jalen Hurts are very close, but after a bit of fantasizing, this is a reunion that won’t happen. Call Jacobs ‘the one that got away’.

Draft picks are minimal and there isn’t a ton of spending money, but we’ve seen Howie Roseman do a lot more with a lot less. We’ve seen it too many times to doubt him.

We all fantasized about a possibility of a Josh Jacobs acquisition, but deep down, we all knew it wasn’t going to happen, right? The death nail came well before the free-agency frenzy.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported on March 3rd that the Raiders plan to place the franchise tag on Jacobs as they were unable to reach a deal by the NFL’s deadline to name franchised players. It wouldn’t have taken much to talk die-hard Eagles fans into this addition… that is if Howie would have been able to wave his magic wand and make the money make sense.

Philly could potentially lose Miles Sanders AND Boston Scott during free agency, and even though Josh Jacobs probably would have commanded a higher price tag than Howie Roseman would have been willing to pay, no one can deny that this would be a home-run-level signing.

Jacobs, a two-time Pro Bowler, earned First-Team All-Pro honors and the Jim Brown Award in 2022. The latter is the newly-named NFL single-season rushing yards title.

But again, he’s no longer an option, so let’s mull over a few other ideas.
