Last year’s Super Bowl representatives from the NFC and AFC land in the top contenders’ tier.

The teams believed to be 2023’s favorites are all pretty close in terms of talent and are all riding a thin line that separates being ‘contenders’ from being the ‘elite’ franchises. Watch out for these four teams next season.

8. L.A. Chargers

At some point, the Chargers have to make good on all of the confidence we keep placing in them. The jury is still out on Brandon Staley. This team has a lot of work to do during the offseason, but they’re still going to be one of the AFC’s better teams.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars

They’re building something special in Duval County, and after a gut-check win in last year’s Wild Card Round, we’re ready to state the Jaguars have overtaken the Titans as the AFC South’s best team.

6. Dallas Cowboys

We hate them, but damn they’re good. As has been the case for each of the past two seasons, the NFC East will come down to the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.

5. Buffalo Bills

Sometimes, we feel really sorry for this fan base. If anyone deserves a Super Bowl win, it’s Bills Mafia, but they went all-in this past season and were turned away again. To make matters worse, many of their best players are getting old.
