player. 13. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wide receiver. Vincent Jackson. Northern Colorado. 61

The Eagles could have had Terrell Owens and Vincent Jackson as a duo. Think about that for a second.

The second day of the 2005 NFL Draft saw Philadelphia choose Reggie Brown as the first of two second-round choices. Sure, he was decent. He caught eight touchdown passes during his second season and hauled in 111 receptions in year three, but could you imagine had they taken the six-foot-four, 230-pound Vincent Jackson? No one would have complained about that selection.

The former Northern Colorado star was still available when the Philly picked Brown. Jackson would have taken the Birds’ receiving core to another level. Reggie’s stat line from 2005 through 2007 is actually better, but that’s due in large part to Vincent sitting behind established veterans like Keenan McCardell and Eric Parker with what was then the San Diego Chargers.

In 2007, Vincent landed in the starter’s chair, and he produced 2,888 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns over the next three NFL seasons.

Meanwhile, Brown’s production was declining due to injuries, and in 2008, DeSean Jackson hit the scene. Still, had things worked out with Terrell Owens (he was suspended from the team in 2005 after seven games and released at the season’s end), Philly could have had a nice duo in T.O. and Vincent, but then again, Philly may have been added D-Jax.

So maybe things worked out as they should have. Oh well, you live and you learn.
