Some might have their doubts about the 2026 Philadelphia Eagles, but there is plenty of talent for them to work with.

Even with many of their older players from their Super Bowl runs still on the team, the Eagles have most of the pieces in place to win a title once again. A lot of it will depend on whether some of those veterans can hold up for another season.

There are some prime candidates for veterans on the roster who might be due for some kind of regression in how they perform on the field in 2026. Who are those players that might not play as they have in previous years with the Eagles?

Dallas Goedert, TE

Despite breaking the franchise record for receiving touchdowns in a season by a tight end at 11, it still wasn't exactly the best season for Goedert, as he averaged under 10 yards per reception for the first time in his career. Eli Stowers was picked by the Eagles in the second round with the hopes that he would be the successor to Goedert starting in 2027. There's a real possibility that Stowers takes targets away from Goedert, so the number should absolutely take a dip and signal the end for the veteran tight end.

Marcus Epps, S

Epps really helped the Eagles out of a jam last year when he stepped in for the injured Andrew Mukuba in the last month of the season, but while he was good, he wasn't great. Going into the 2026 season, the Eagles didn't really bring in anyone at safety except for special teams ace J.T. Gray and selected Cole Wisniewski in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The job appears to be Epps at one of the safety positions for now, but at age 30, he may not play as well as Eagles fans need him to.

Lane Johnson, RT

As painful as it is to say, Johnson's injuries are starting to catch up to him. He missed the last eight games of the season due to a foot injury, but he did play well in the first 10 games, not allowing a single sack in 262 pass blocking snaps. Even with him already having a Hall of Fame career, Johnson is in his mid-30s and almost at his retirement age, so Eagles fans hope he can hang in there for one more year, but he is due to regress in some way.

Saquon Barkley, RB

The regression was evident last year in Barkley's play, as he went from 5.8 yards per carry in 2024 to 4.1 in 2025. While he still went for over 1,000 yards rushing, it was clear that Barkley was not the same running back. With the Eagles' offense about to look a whole lot different, it could result in fewer touches for the veteran running back and the first step to the end for Barkley.
