The Philadelphia Eagles have been busy taking care of some of their players on the roster instead of making big moves in free agency.
Philly's biggest contract extension was given to defensive tackle Jordan Davis, who signed the most expensive nose tackle contract in NFL history at $26 million per year. Many Eagles fans have wondered who is next, with names like Jalen Carter and Jalen Hurts being brought up. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic to share what he has heard about Hurts and Carter getting extensions this offseason.
"No I haven't heard about Jalen Hurts being extended and Jalen Carter I think they're gonna want to get to that. I think that's going to be a down the line situation. Don't think that's anytime soon. I think that there are some other defensive linemen out there in the NFL that have to be paid. Probably Jalen Carter is gonna wait and see some of these deals. They're gonna wanna get Jalen Carter done at some point in time. Don't think it's close right now. But again, I won't be surprised when that gets addressed this offseason. My guess is that's an issue closer to training camp."
Adam Schefter's update on Jalen Hurts and Jalen Carter's contract extensions
Eagles should not be in a rush to do something with Hurts' contract, as he has three years left on it with a $31 million cap hit in 2026. That cap hit increases to over $40 million in each of the final two years, so that might be when something gets done if the Eagles want to.
Carter is in the final year of his rookie contract, and they can either pick up his fifth-year option, which would pay him $27.1 million in 2027, or they can just give him the extension. The Eagles were originally linked to trade rumors involving Carter, but those have been squashed as the team wants to keep him long-term.

Philly fans will be keeping their eyes on Carter, and when he gets his new deal, but from what it sounds like, it may take a bit to get it done.
