Philadelphia Eagles fans are looking forward to moving on from this week, as it has not been an easy one after all these reports on their star quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
It all started with an ESPN article by Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler that interviewed over 10 unnamed sources who criticized Hurts for being a bad teammate, having poor body language, not being coachable, and changing plays too often. This led ESPNÂ NFL insider Adam Schefter to surprisingly target those unnamed sources for what they said about the franchise signal-caller.
"I don't love anonymous sources and don't think it's really fair to have an anonymous source questioning somebody's character," Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show. "We're taking apart a guy that's had a lot of success in this league, and I don't quite get it."
Adam Schefter is not a fan of the Jalen Hurts criticism
It's hard to tell whether Schefter doesn't like the fact that McManus and Fowler used so many unnamed sources to criticize Hurts or just the comments from the unnamed sources themselves. Regardless, Schefter is 100% on the right side of this.
While it may not have been McManus and Fowler's intention to make the report like this, it was a very heavy, negative article about a quarterback who really doesn't deserve it. Yes, the on-field resume is impressive with three Pro Bowls, two Super Bowl appearances, one Super Bowl title, and one Super Bowl MVP, but more importantly, the work he does off the field with Special Olympics and other organizations.
Their report makes it seem as though he is a selfish teammate who puts himself first, which couldn't be further from the truth. He always defends his teammates in public, and this is a guy who actually ran down the field on a Hail Mary against the Denver Broncos last year just to see if he could help catch the ball.
This public attempt to rip a star quarterback is just odd, with the timing of the article's release being equally suspicious. It has not sat right with Eagles fans for the last few days, and it's not going to for a while.

It appears as though Hurts has a target on his back going into the 2026 season and must step up with the best season of his career if he wants everyone to stop with it, unfortunately.
