The Philadelphia Eagles got an offer they couldn't refuse with the Cam Jurgens trade last month, and Week 8 might have been bad for Philly, but it wasn't much better for Jurgens and his new team, the Baltimore Ravens.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman wasn't looking to move Jurgens off the team, despite his early-season struggles at center and guard. Baltimore made a great offer for Jurgens, and Roseman jumped on it. Philly got a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick in the deal.
It was an odd trade, coming on the heels of Lane Johnson's retirement announcement and Jurgens' struggles at left guard. Still, the Eagles are looking like massive winners from that trade.
Ravens finding out the hard way what Eagles fans learned about Cam Jurgens
Before the trade, Jurgens was about as bad as you could get at guard for the Eagles. Pro Football Focus had Jurgens ranked the second-lowest among 74 NFL guards, with a 38.7 grade. He allowed 12 pressures, one quarterback hit, and one sack in 146 pass-blocking snaps. Jurgens has also been called for four penalties.
Well, things seem just as bad for Jurgens as they were when he was on the Eagles. In the Ravens' 36-10 Week 8 blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills, Jurgens allowed five pressures and one sack, according to Sumer Sports via The Philly Special's Anthony DiBona.

How did that performance affect Jurgens' latest 2026 stats? He has now allowed 17 pressures, two quarterback hits, and two sacks in 219 pass-blocking snaps, and has been called for four penalties.
Oh, and he now has the worst grade in PFF among 75 offensive guards, at 37.1. His pass-blocking grade is 28.7 (ranked 73rd), and his run-blocking grade is 46.6 (ranked 68th).
Howie Roseman definitely made the right call trading Cam Jurgens from the Eagles
Look, the Eagles have little room to talk about their offensive line play, since it has been very bad for the team. Philly's offensive line allowed 12 pressures, six hurries, and five sacks in their 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 8.
That said, the Eagles got a massive steal. He can play center or guard and still struggle mightily at pass protection.
It's a shame, as Jurgens got off to a great start as Jason Kelce's successor with two Pro Bowl selections in 2024 and 2025. That back injury he suffered during the Super Bowl title run in 2024, though, really ruined his career and potential.
The Eagles might have a mess on their hands on the offensive line, but they still have a chance to get it right for the future. Drew Kendall has the potential to be a starting center, and rookie Markel Bell is developing at right tackle. They need to figure out who will be the guards in the future, with Landon Dickerson struggling and Tyler Steen about to become a free agent.

At least the Eagles have ammunition in the form of a trade or draft picks to use on future long-term starting offensive linemen. Baltimore is stuck with Jurgens at center and has to hope that he figures it out. Oh well, not the Eagles' problem.
