Chris Simms lit the match that Eagles fans will want to put out about Jalen Hurts

NBC Sports NFL analyst Chris Simms doesn't seem to care about the facts anymore about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Simms is working through his long series on ranking all the NFL quarterbacks in 2026, where his latest rankings have Hurts at number 21. In the Hurts section, Simms criticizes the Eagles' signal caller for missing the easy throws and slams everyone who tries to use one argument about him.

“I know he’s a winner, but I mean damn, everybody won at Alabama, and Oklahoma, and most people would win on this Philadelphia team too, so I’m sick of hearing that crap," Simms said via NBC Sports.

The amazing part is that Simms currently has Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud ranked 20th and Miami Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis at 19. Stroud is coming off a postseason run in which he threw five interceptions in two playoff games, and Willis shouldn't even rank ahead of Hurts, since he started fewer than five games last year.

Simms is notorious as one of the biggest Jalen Hurts haters in the media and continues to ignore all the facts about Hurts. Hurts has been selected to three Pro Bowls, appeared in two Super Bowls, won a Super Bowl, was Super Bowl MVP, and yes, he's won over 68% of his starts.

This is exactly what FOX Sports host Jason McIntyre said on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" this week, where Hurts gets blamed for everything and gets zero credit for winning. Simms basically said that anyone can come in at quarterback and win with the Eagles.

It's blatant disrespect towards a quarterback who has completed 64.4% of his passes, thrown 110 touchdowns to 45 interceptions, and added 3,554 yards and 63 touchdowns. Simms acknowledged that Hurts is a great athlete, but Eagles fans apparently have to pin everything about last season's struggles on Hurts and not on former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo's unimaginable play-calling, Nick Sirianni's decision to promote Patullo, the offensive line's struggles, or A.J. Brown dropping wide-open passes in the playoffs.

Nope, it has to be all on Hurts because Simms is buying into the reports that he's uncoachable. Eagles fans can continue to just ignore what Simms says because if he really thinks Willis is better than Hurts, his credibility is shot. Hurts can proceed to keep doing what he does best, and that's winning.
