While the 2025 season was a massive letdown for the Philadelphia Eagles compared to the Super Bowl-championship year in 2024, there is a lot of hope that the 2026 campaign will be very different.

There have been changes to the team, as new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion has brought in a whole new scheme and coaches to take over that side of the ball. On defense, three starters have signed elsewhere, but the Eagles are slowly building some youth on that side of the ball.

Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith was recently participating in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic as he enjoys his offseason. Sports Illustrated asked him to share a message to the Eagles fan base, and Smith did not disappoint.

“Just get ready for the ride," Smith said. "The offseason's been fun. Still enjoying it. Still got a little time, but just get ready for the ride."

There's a lot of buzz around Smith and the kind of season he could be in for with Mannion implementing his offensive scheme. A lot of people believe that Smith is going to thrive in it since the Sean McVay-Kyle Shanahan system fits his ability to be a deep threat and have reliable hands.

All that also comes with the thought that A.J. Brown could be on his way out the door in Philly via trade, with rumors brewing. If Brown is going to be dealt, that means Smith would have to step up and be the number one guy in the passing game for quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Smith proved last season that he can do that, posting the third 1,000-yard season of his five-year NFL career with 1,008 yards. That total was the most on the team, the first time Smith has beaten Brown in receiving yards in a season.

While there are some nervous Eagles fans, there are some that are excited to see what Smith and company can bring to the table and how different the offense will look now that Kevin Patullo isn't running the show anymore.
