One of the most notable aspects of this Philadelphia Eagles team that has been different from previous seasons is that they are committing more penalties than usual.
The Eagles are tied for fifth in the NFL in penalties counted against them, with 91 in 12 games. They are also seventh in pre-snap penalties with 35.
This is a problem that everyone has noticed, including former NFL general manager Mike Mayock, and he's not amused by it. While appearing on SportsRadio 94 WIP, Mayock expressed his frustration with the Eagles consistently having this issue.
"There's all these what I would call either miscommunications or disconnects are happening in Week 13. And most of them should be ironed out ten weeks ago. And I think what plays into it. Some of the pre-snap penalties, which again, as a coach's son drives me up a wall."
Should Eagles fans worry about this problem?
Eagles fans have seen this problem with the offensive line, and even with wide receiver A.J. Brown. Philly's star receiver leads the Eagles in false start penalties for the season at four.
Players have defended the media. Guys like Eagles offensive lineman Landon Dickerson shared that it's on everyone, and they are working on communication to get everyone on the same page.
Mayock is 100% correct that these problems should not be occurring this season, but there have been underlying issues that have led to these pre-snap penalties. The offensive line's instability, with Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Lane Johnson all facing injuries throughout the season, has not helped the unit's continuity.
Philly is currently 8-4 on the season and is in first place in the NFC East. They are the third seed in the NFC playoffs, behind the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams, with five weeks left in the season.

Now entering their Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Eagles hope to clean up their issues with a good performance that is desperately needed.
