The search for a new offensive coordinator is starting to pick up some steam for the Philadelphia Eagles, as interviews are underway to find the replacement for Kevin Patullo.
Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson was the first reported interview for the Eagles, but a second one has been conducted. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Eagles have also interviewed New York Giants interim head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.
After the firing of Brian Daboll (another Eagles OC candidate) as the head coach of the Giants, Kafka took over and went 2-5 to close the season. Kafka has been the Giants' offensive coordinator since 2022.
Could Mike Kafka make sense as the Eagles' OC?
While Kafka never coached a top-10 offense with the Giants over the last four years, the 2025 season was actually his best in terms of numbers. New York's offense was ranked 13th in yards and 17th in points
A stat that Eagles fans might find interesting? Kafka, despite the Giants' awful season, was fifth in the NFL in rushing, the second time in his time as OC that he coached a top-five rushing attack.
There are multiple connections between the Eagles and Kafka that might make this an intriguing candidate. Philly selected Kafka in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft as their backup quarterback, playing two seasons there.
What's the coaching connection? Kafka knows that All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley pretty well, as he coached him for two years in New York. Barkley had the second-best season of his career under Kafka in 2022 when he rushed for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Kafka might make sense for the Eagles as he can coach a great running game, have a strong relationship with Barkley, and developed Jaxson Dart well in their only year together. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and owner Jeffrey Lurie are familiar with Kafka since they saw him wear the midnight green uniform.
