Jalen Hurts' straightforward denial will have Eagles fans wonder if it's true

Is he telling the truth?

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is ready to set the record straight about the latest reports that have come out about him.

Over the weekend, after the Eagles lost their second straight game to the Chicago Bears and Hurts had two turnovers in Week 13, two different reporters said Hurts had asked the Eagles not to run many quarterback-designed runs before the 2025 season. When Hurts was asked about it, he did not appreciate the question and went on the defensive.

“If you don’t mind me asking, how did we come to that conclusion or rationalize that? I’ve always been focused on doing whatever it takes to win, and I’ve always put my energy on trying to bring the game plan and the strategy to life, so I’ll continue to do that.”

Hurts isn't putting up with that, but is he being honest about that?

The numbers tell a whole different story about his running. Hurts is only pacing to have 119 carries for 466 yards. Those rushing stats would be the lowest of his career since his rookie season, but he didn't play most of that season, so that would be his lowest marks since taking over as the full-time starter.

Hurts' messaging all season has been that he will do whatever it takes to help the team win. The desire was shown in the Denver Broncos' loss when he threw up a Hail Mary at the end of the game, and he ran all the way down the field to see if he could make a play on it. That was a great example, and no one questioned it.

Now, it certainly feels like, after having four straight games of completion percentages of under 70% and an offense that hasn't scored more than 21 points in those contests, the doubt has been cast about Hurts. The Philadelphia sports media has shifted its focus from Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo being the problem to Hurts being part of the problem.

Hurts has indeed been great about protecting the football, but the inaccuracy and miscommunication with receivers are starting to be more of a problem. His game has been rattled, and Eagles fans are now questioning everything, including what it would be like with Tanner McKee running the show.

Eagles fans want to put their trust in Hurts, who has led the team to two Super Bowls and won one over the last five years. They also want him to prove in these final five games that he means it when he says he'll do whatever it takes to win at all costs.
