The future of the Philadelphia Eagles is a really interesting topic, especially with all the changes coming to the team.
Looking at the coaching staff, the offense is going through a major overhaul led by offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. The Eagles have seen some key faces leave the franchise on offense, including offensive line coach and run game coordinator Jeff Stoutland, who spent 13 years with the team and was asked to return for the 2026 season.
During the Super Bowl festivities, The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane caught up with Eagles starting left tackle Jordan Mailata to ask him a series of questions, including his thoughts on Mannion and the changes to the coaching staff. Mailata was honest about what would happen in the future.
“I don’t know, I’ll be honest. I’m excited for the challenge. I just don’t know what we’re walking into because it’s uncharted territory for me, man. I’ve had the same coach for the last eight years, but I welcome it. It’s a challenge that we have to learn a new playbook, but this is the NFL, man, this is what we do.”
Jordan Mailata opened up about Eagles coaching changes
This Eagles offense is going to look completely different from a coaching and schematic standpoint. Philly is going to look a lot more like what Sean McVay and Matt LaFleur are doing with their teams, with the offense really opening up.
One of the big complaints about this Eagles offense last season, with offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, was that the unit looked stale, predictable, and uninnovative. They finished in the bottom 15 in every major offensive category, leading to the removal of Patullo as offensive coordinator.
Mannion is bringing in his own people and is completely changing the scheme. That could end up being a good thing, as the Eagles needed a makeover on offense, but the sweeping changes across the board are making Eagles fans uneasy.
A season without Stoutland running the offensive line and drawing up the running game seemed like something Eagles fans would never have to deal with. Losing him is a lot on players, including Mailata, who couldn't even talk about it initially.

The 2026 season will be interesting for the Eagles and their offense. If these changes don't work, there could be many more people losing their jobs in the 2027 offseason, so let's hope they do.
