All the talk around the Philadelphia Eagles fan base has been about new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion and what to expect out of the 33-year-old first-time play caller.
While there is some excitement about what Mannion can bring to an offense that looked predictable and stale in 2025 under Kevin Patullo, there is concern that he is too green to handle the job. During the Super Bowl media frenzy, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was asked about Mannion being a first-time offensive coordinator and what to expect from Philadelphia's new OC. McDaniels gave some good advice to Philly's new OC.
"I don't know if there is the perfect timeline for any of that," McDaniels said via PHLY. "I think when you get the opportunity, it's probably the most important thing you have confidence in what you want to do and a way to communicate your vision for what you want it to look like. There's a million different philosophies on how to do it well, and what's important is can you explain to the coaches and players exactly what you are looking for. He's been around football for a long time. He's done it at a high level, and I'm sure he's going to do his job really well."

McDaniels discusses some of the struggles Mannion is about to face, as he has been a longtime offensive coordinator and head coach in the NFL. While their paths have not crossed while working together, this is still good for Mannion to know.
The Eagles need something new, other than the typical run 60% of the time and throw to receivers running hitch or out routes. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni brought in Mannion to bring some innovation and creativity to the offense, which is desperately needed.
This is also a time for Mannion to prove he can develop quarterbacks at a high level, as he did with Jordan Love and Malik Willis last year while coaching the Green Bay Packers. Jalen Hurts needs to start taking the next steps in his development since he is still at the prime of his career, but is inching closer to the twilight of his production on the field.

Eagles fans hope Mannion will be the change this team needs, but they also hope he heard McDaniels' words, as that comes from a man with decades of experience.
