Time waits for no one, and sometimes, injuries can be all too unforgiving as Philadelphia Eagles fans know all too well.

Sidelined near the midway point of last season onward with a Lis Franc injury, a legend contemplated hanging them up. But as one of the best ever to suit up at the tackle position, Eagles icon Lane Johnson has shown he can still get it done as well as anyone in the business. Johnson, now in his 14th campaign at 36, knows there is still premium fuel left in the tank, and he is fired up to get back to business.

Per Johnny McGonigal, Johnson spoke on his firm decision to come back and finish strong.

"I didn't want to go out that way," Johnson said.

"I wanted to come back and finish on a strong note.”

Legendary tackle will absolutely go out on his own terms

Johnson was flat-out dominant up until his Lis Franc ailment knocked him out of action in the 2025 campaign. For those who cite his age, and yes, the recent injury, it's imperative to remember this is an athlete who excels in every sport he's competed in, a strong basketball player, a former quarterback turned tight end, turned probable Canton-bound offensive tackle. Similar to teammate Jordan Mailata, Johnson is a unicorn of sorts in the trenches.

Now back to full health, he is headstrong on helping the offensive line unit reclaim itsprevious reign of dominance. Over the past two seasons of action, Johnson's performance has remained unrivaled, with the left tackle surrendering a pressure rate of only 2.7%, the top mark in the entire NFL.

Along with the restored health of Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson, there is strong reason to believe this coming season could see a return to an imposing offensive tone being set up front, thanks to a starting five that can rival any other trench unit in the league.
