From the moment the news broke that the Philadelphia Eagles had signed wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, fans started dreaming of how great that deep ball is going to look from Jalen Hurts to Brown. The new guy feels the same way.

Brown signed a one-year, $6.5 million contract with the Eagles to join a wide receiver room that has DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown for the moment. Philly's new deep threat spoke out for the first time since signing his new deal as he appeared on Speakeasy, where he praised his new quarterback.

"I've always been a fan of Jalen Hurts, even from his story back in Alabama. I took the long road to where I got, so I always root for guys that went on that journey, and when he came to Oklahoma was when I was coming into the league, and I was considering staying to school to play with him. When he got into the league and just seeing the adversity he's been through and being across that sidelines in the Super Bowl and seeing how calm, collected, dialed in he was and the throws he was making, you get back home, and you get on the TV and see people say, 'Well, he can't do.' It's like, I mean everybody get on TV, everybody got their opinion and that's why we love this game, that's why we love this sport because anybody can chime in. You know, you can't be mad at somebody for speaking their opinion, but I personally feel he's one of the top vertical passers in the league like his deep ball is great."

One thing missing from this Eagles offense over the last few years is a burner at receiver. While Smith and A.J. Brown are great with one-on-one coverage going down the field, they don't have the kind of speed that Marquise Brown has.

Many in the media have criticized Hurts for his lack of accuracy on deep throws over the past year. While some is warranted, he has never had the kind of receiver he's about to have with Brown, maybe since Quez Watkins.

The addition of Brown really helps his new offensive coordinator, Sean Mannion, as the Eagles are taking a whole different approach to the offense from what former OC Kevin Patullo did in 2025. This new-look offense will be similar to those of Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, and Matt LaFleur, with a more vertical passing game and a focus on pushing it downfield. Brown is just as good as any receiver in the NFL at doing that.

Philly just got a lot more dangerous with Brown in the picture, and Hurts is about to show the NFL how good his deep ball truly is.
