Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft has Eagles making fatal mistake in first round

Oh would that be the right call?

The NFL mock drafts are coming in hot and heavy with the Philadelphia Eagles being predicted to go after one position with over a month to go before the actual NFL Draft.

ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. had the Eagles taking Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor with the 23rd overall pick. As for NFL Network's draft expert Daniel Jeremiah, he also has the Eagles taking offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor from Alabama.

"When it comes to addressing needs, GM Howie Roseman tends to be a year early instead of a year late. Right tackle Lane Johnson is under contract through 2027-- but the Eagles get some insurance for the 13-year veteran now. Proctor could also slide inside to guard if needed."

Why should Daniel Jeremiah's Eagles prediction be questioned?

Offensive tackle is definitely a need for the Eagles as they need to figure out the future successor to Johnson at some point in the draft, and plus, Philly straight up needs depth on the line with Brett Toth and Matt Pryor signing elsewhere. More than likely, they will use a Day 1 or one of the three Day 2 picks to get something done.

Where Jeremiah might have missed the mark a bit is in his assessment that Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 27th overall pick in the draft. Some Eagles fans might question whether the team should go tight end in the first or second round, but Sadiq is an elite talent who can't be passed up.

Sadiq ran a 4.39 40-time at the NFL Combine and is an underrated blocker at tight end. His talent level is off the roof, and the Eagles, despite getting Dallas Goedert back on a one-year deal, would be crazy to let a talent like that get selected elsewhere.

If Philly does end up trading A.J. Brown away, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts needs all the weapons around him possible to throw it to. Sure, Hurts has his deep threat in new wide receiver Marquise Brown and his number one in DeVonta Smith or A.J. Brown, but Goedert and Sadiq just give them a whole different dynamic on offense, never seen in franchise history at tight end.

While some would go for the best available, Sadiq is a one-in-10-to-15-years type of talent at tight end, so they shouldn't let that slip by them.
