It just wouldn't be a normal day of Philadelphia Eagles training camp without getting some kind of injury scare.

Cooper DeJean did it to Eagles fans earlier in the week. Wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon also missed some practices with hamstring issues.

Well, a new concern has popped up regarding starting center Cam Jurgens. Several media members at training camp reported that Jurgens was taken to the medical tent for evaluation. He was sent to the locker room to end his day, but The Athletic's Zach Berman added an important note: Jurgens "didn’t appear to be hindered" and walked off the practice field on his own. Jake Majors was the replacement starter at center.

Eagles fans hoping that Cam Jurgens' injury isn't serious

Last year, Jurgens dealt with a back injury that had been bothering him since 2024, which affected his play on the field. This offseason, he got stem cell treatment done to help him heal and has said that he's better than he ever has.

During the 2025 campaign, Jurgens allowed 11 pressures and one quarterback hit in 484 pass-blocking snaps. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 63.4, ranking 21st out of 40 centers in the NFL last year. He also had a pass-blocking grade of 60.9 and a run-blocking grade of 65.6.

It's important for Jurgens to be okay, as he is a key piece of the offensive line after replacing Eagles legend Jason Kelce in the 2023 season. Jurgens has made the Pro Bowl two years in a row.

The Eagles' offensive line seems to be in much better shape entering 2026 training camp. Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson are both healthy, along with Jurgens, after a long 2025 season.

This is a pivotal season for a lot of the veterans on the Eagles' offensive line. Last year, they were exposed by injury concerns and did not play up to the standards that they have held for the group for a long time. Jurgens is one of those veterans who needs to play better than he did last season despite making the Pro Bowl.

First, the hope is that Jurgens won't be like 2025, when he had to play through injuries and not look as good. Watch for the Eagles to be super conservative with how they approach Jurgens the rest of training camp.
