The depth of the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive line was a major concern heading into the offseason, given the injuries to the starters throughout the 2025 season.
It didn't help that Matt Pryor and Brett Toth left for other teams during the offseason, leaving them with a young and inexperienced line behind the veteran starters. That led the Eagles to draft offensive tackle Markel Bell in the third round and offensive guard Micah Morris in the sixth round.
The team made a new move recently that got lost in the shuffle after A.J. Brown was traded and the Eagles made several signings. It's one that might even have an immediate impact going into the 2026 season.
Michael Jordan (not that guy) could start at offensive guard in 2026
The Eagles signed two players right around the end of OTAs, including edge rusher A.J. Epenesa, who got a ton of attention as another solid pass rusher being added. Philly also brought in offensive guard Michael Jordan as well.
Jordan's journey is interesting, as he brings a ton of experience to the Eagles. He's a former fourth-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals back in 2019 and has since played for five teams before coming to Philly. During his career, he has played in 78 games and started 49 of them.
Last year, Jordan was with the Buccaneers, starting in nine of 11 games. He finished with allowing 25 pressures, two quarterback hits, and two sacks in 464 pass-blocking snaps. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of just 49.7, ranking 72nd out of 81 interior linemen, but he did post a pass-blocking grade of 71, ranking 19th.
The real question is now whether he could compete for a starting job on the Eagles or just be a high-end depth player. There have been questions around Eagles starting right guard Tyler Steen and whether he can be the long-term solution at the position.
Jordan has mostly played left guard throughout his career, but he did take 69 snaps at right guard with the Buccaneers last year, so he can play it. That could bring in some much-needed competition at right guard between Steen and Jordan after Eagles fans were hoping that Mekhi Becton would be brought back.
Steen put up better numbers in 2025 than Jordan did, so it would be fair to say that the young guard would have the early advantage. The pass-blocking skills of Jordan, though, do at least add some intrigue that a competition is more realistic than fans might want to admit.

While Eagles fans might know what the outcome will be at right guard, having Jordan there is better than what they had with Pryor, so they should be grateful for that. Jordan presents the Eagles with some interesting scenarios in training, but more importantly, gives them the depth they need and a chance to make some noise on the line going into 2026.
