The Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator job search has certainly been an adventure so far, with multiple names being included in the process.
Going into the second week of the search, the Eagles will continue to interview candidates, with a new one reportedly joining the list. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coordinator Josh Grizzard is set to be interviewed by the Eagles.
Grizzard was the replacement for Liam Coen after he left for the Jacksonville Jaguars to be their head coach. It was a rough season, as the Buccaneers completely collapsed at the end, missing the playoffs with an offense ranked 21st in yards and 18th in points.
Eagles fans will be thinking Kevin Patullo all over again
There are way too many similarities between Grizzard and former Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, as both were passing game coordinators before becoming offensive coordinators in 2025. Also, both were fired after ranking in the bottom 15 in points and yards.
This is one where the Eagles are just trying to do their due diligence, but it doesn't make sense to bring in Grizzard after failing as the Buccaneers' offensive coordinator. That offense included Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, and plenty of talent to be a top 10 offense.
The Eagles would be taking a massive step back with Grizzard when they need to move forward. While he would be a good candidate for another spot on the coaching staff, Philly would be wise to stay away from him.
Their top candidates for the offensive coordinator job should remain Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll. McDaniel has done a great job of adapting to changes to the Dolphins' offense, while Daboll has those key connections to Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.

Bringing in Grizzard proves that the Eagles are going to interview everyone for the job, but they must be careful with this one. They can't hire a Patullo replica.
