This offseason has been turbulent for the most part as a Philadelphia Eagles fan, but from the offensive coordinator search to the retirement scares to the A.J. Brown trade talk, it all feels like it was just the beginning.
There was one significant coaching change that might end up biting Philly in the butt in multiple ways: the Dallas Cowboys prying Eagles defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator Christian Parker away to be their new defensive coordinator. NFL reporter James Palmer went on Philadelphia sports radio station 97.5 The Fanatic, where he seemed to give the fans something to watch in free agency, as no Eagles free agent is safe from signing with the Cowboys.
"I think you should keep an eye on any Eagle becoming a Dallas Cowboy. Whether that's Nakobe Dean, whether that is [Jaelan] Phillips. There's certain players on that defense that Christian Parker thought the world of, to my understanding. I know Dallas is really just 100% focused on that side of the ball right now. I honestly, from my understanding, would not rule [Dallas] out for Maxx Crosby."
Cowboys could go after every Eagles free agent on defense
One thing to keep in mind is that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is reportedly making Phillips a priority in free agency, so it would be a surprise if they are not able to get something done. Phillips is most likely going to command about $17.3 million per year, and if he hits free agency, that price could go up.
As for guys like Dean and safety Reed Blankenship, it feels almost inevitable that they will be members of the Dallas Cowboys. Blankenship has a close relationship with Parker, and Dean can help the Cowboys fill a need at linebacker as a starter right away. While Roseman has been public about wanting to re-sign Phillips and tight end Dallas Goedert, nothing has been said about Dean or Blankenship, so take that however fans want to.
Eagles fans will, unfortunately, have to face this kind of conversation for the next few offseasons, while Parker is a defensive coordinator. He was a beloved coach in Philly, and many will still want to play on his defense.

Roseman has warned that not everyone will be re-signed due to the cap constraints they are facing. The reality is that guys like Dean and Blankenship could be in Cowboys uniforms in 2026, which will be disappointing to see.
