There are a lot of new additions on the Philadelphia Eagles that are getting some positive press through the first two-plus weeks of OTAs, with one being an important one.

Last week, Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell called new wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks "underrated" as he has impressed in minicamp. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni joined in on the compliments as he compared Wicks to a six-time Pro Bowler he once coached back in his Los Angeles Chargers days.

"I think he has a very unique skill set of being able to get in and out of breaks and be really efficient at the line of scrimmage," Sirianni said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "For a guy that I've coached, he has some Keenan Allen to him and to his game."

The Eagles fan base hopes Wicks will live up to that comparison, as he has not proven it through his first three years in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers. Wicks has caught 108 passes for 1,328 yards and 11 touchdowns, but has never gone over 600 yards and six touchdowns in one year.

Wicks is set to take over for A.J. Brown on the outside after he was traded to the New England Patriots last week. Philly traded for Wicks from the Packers before the 2026 NFL Draft and even gave him a one-year extension on his contract so that he can step into the starting lineup and play in new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's scheme as he did in Green Bay.

The Eagles are getting a tall possession receiver in Wicks, as his 6-foot-1 frame will make him a key weapon in the red zone for Jalen Hurts to throw the ball to in the end zone on fade routes. Philly doesn't need Wicks to put up the kind of stats that Brown did, but they are hoping for some good touchdown numbers from inside the 10-yard line.

Wicks might end up being one of the most underrated moves of the offseason, as the buzz is starting to grow throughout OTAs as he continues to play well. Even if he doesn't end up being an elite wide receiver, if he can do his part as a goal-line threat in the passing game, he could end up being bigger things than what he was doing with the Packers.
