Over the last two years, Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro cornerback Quinyon Mitchell has faced off against the best of the best at CB1, so when he says something about a receiver, fans should take it as gospel.

Mitchell is facing new receivers across from him at Eagles OTAs, following A.J. Brown's trade to the New England Patriots. There is one receiver, NJ.com Eagles reporter Cayden Steele shared that Mitchell mentioned to the media as a guy to watch.

"Quinyon Mitchell called Dontayvion Wicks “underrated.” He said Wicks has given him some problems. He’s impressed by his releases at the top of the routes."

Dontayvion Wicks has the attention of his new Eagles teammates

The Eagles traded for Wicks right before the 2026 NFL Draft as the possession receiver who was going to replace Brown. A big reason for Wicks to be on the roster is that he knows new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's scheme well, having worked with him at the Green Bay Packers over the last two years.

Wicks was drafted by the Packers in 2023 and got off to a promising start in his rookie season with a career-high 581 yards and four touchdowns. His production declined from there: he had 415 yards and five touchdowns in 2024, and 332 yards and two touchdowns in 2025. The problem was that the Packers were adding other wide receivers, and Wicks got washed up in the process.

This is a new chapter in Wick's career, as he signed a contract extension with the Eagles following the trade, securing roster spots in 2026 and 2027. He will most likely play on the outside and replace Brown's spot.

Wicks reportedly had a quiet day at OTAs this week, as it was his first one in front of the media after missing last week. He will need time to create some rapport with his new quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
