Seriously?

There have been plenty of great moments throughout Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott's time with the team that fans will remember.

From his game-winning 61-yard field goal against the New York Giants in their first Super Bowl year to the clutch 59-yard field goal in 2023 against the Buffalo Bills in the downpour rain in Philly to force overtime that ended up being a win. Those memories have faded over the last two years, with poor performances and frustration among the fan base.

Week 16 was the peak of the frustrations as Elliott missed two field goals in the 29-18 win over the Washington Commanders, which was actually three misses with one not counting due to a Washington penalty. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was asked about bringing in competition for Elliott, and he gave the same response he has had over the last two seasons with Elliott.

"My love and appreciation for Jake isn't just when you guys ask me questions about it, but also in times like this, you want to make sure you reconfirm those things," Sirianni said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "And I think we've seen Jake have -- he's had such a great career with so many highs, but like any player, he's had some moments of struggle as well, and all I've ever seen him do was get up out of that and rise from that. I know he went through some struggles last year and ended up having however many field goals and extra points in the Super Bowl and in the NFC championship game. So I have no doubt in my mind of the competitor he is and the way and how mentally tough he is to be able to rise from this situation as well.

"A lot of confidence in Jake, I love the roster the way it is, and like I said, I have a ton of confidence in him with Jake and that he'll rebound from whatever setbacks that he has."

Nothing is changing at kicker for the Eagles for now

Eagles fans are not going to be happy about that, especially since the struggles are at an all-time high. Elliott has missed at least one field goal in four of the last five games, with five total misses during that span.

This season, Elliott has made 17 of 24 field goals, which is a percentage of 70.8%, the lowest of his career. The key stats are that he is 6-9 from 40 to 49 yards and 4-8 from 50+ yards.

Last year, Elliott was having similar problems as he made just 77.8% of his field goals, but then bounced back in the postseason by hitting 10-11 to help with the Super Bowl run. He was 1-7 from 50+yards out in the 2024 regular season.

There are a lot of concern with Elliott despite the fact that he is claiming that it is not a mental thing. With no threat of competition, he has to find a way to fix it and get back on track quickly.
