Nobody is talking about 4 Eagles possibly being handed pink slips before 2026

They could be gone before the regular season.

Going into the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles are somewhat limited in what they can do with the roster, as the salary cap is not exactly in their favor.

The biggest topics for the Eagles have been whether they will re-sign edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and if they will trade away wide receiver A.J. Brown. There are several other pending free agents, including Reed Blankenship, Nakobe Dean, and Dallas Goedert, who still need to be decided on.

Another aspect of the offseason is which players the Eagles should release to make room on the roster or under the salary cap. There are four that not many people are talking about, and they should be considered either in the offseason or at the end of training camp.

Kelee Ringo, Cornerback

Eagles fans were mightily disappointed in Ringo after his poor performances on defense. What has saved him from being cut is that he's arguably one of the best special teams players in the NFL. There's going to be new competition coming into the 2026 season at cornerback, but the Eagles would save some money if they just eliminated Ringo from consideration.

Jakorian Bennett, Cornerback

Bennett is entering the final year of his rookie contract, but after the Eagles traded for him last training camp, he really didn't do much as an injury kept him off the field for a good part of the season. The cornerback position could see some changes in the offseason, but it feels hard to believe that Bennett could stay on the roster.

Johnny Wilson, Wide Receiver

Wilson struggled early in his NFL career with drops as he caught five of 15 targets in his rookie year. He made some massive strides in training camp and was looking poised for a bounce-back season, but suffered a season-ending injury before the year started, opening the door for undrafted rookie Darius Cooper to take his spot on the roster. With the threat of Cooper back, Wilson might not be long for the team, depending on what they do with A.J. Brown and the draft.

Tyler Steen, Guard

This one isn't going to be a popular pick, especially given questions about Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson's futures in the NFL. Steen started all 17 games in 2025 and earned a respectable 71.6 grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking him 17th among 81 NFL guards. It would be a bit crazy to let Steen go, but if they find one or two rookies/veterans they sign and love, cutting Steen would save them over $3 million, so it might be worth considering.
