Summer is fast approaching, and for fans of the Philadelphia Eagles, that means more sunshine - and a brand new offensive look capable of finally heating back up - is in the air.
Over at CBS Sports, Bryan DeArdo targeted one reason for optimism for each team, honing in on the bevy of new Eagles suiting up with a brand-new approach on the offensive side of the ball:
"Howie Roseman showed why he's one of the best general managers in the business when he leapfrogged the Steelers (in a trade involving the rival Cowboys) to acquire wideout Makai Lemon, who will join a revamped receiving corps that also includes fellow offseason acquisitions Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks and Elijah Moore. Roseman also used the trade to give Jalen Hurts yet another new pass-catcher in former Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers. He also added much-needed depth to the offensive line by drafting former Miami tackle Markel Bell in the sixth round and former Georgia guard Micah Morris in the sixth round. While no one can predict the future, it appears that Roseman has done his part in terms of improving Jalen Hurts' situation in light of A.J. Brown's expected departure. "
A brand new day for Eagles' offense in 2026
Much has been reported about the sweeping changes being made not only to the skill position group but also to the new vision ushered in by the addition of offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. There will be an entirely new feel to things on the offensive side of the ball for sure, as Hurts has plenty of fresh talent at his disposal.
The arrivals of Lemon and the aforementioned vet wideouts signal a diversified look out wide, while Stowers in the second round represents an evolving approach at the tight end position, which Roseman alluded to in the buildup to the draft. The glaring issues of last year's offensive showing, including limited explosiveness, three-and-outs, and, at times, inevitable predictability, are now merely memories that the Birds are headstrong in moving on from with staunch conviction.
There's been a ton of hype surrounding Markel Bell, and rightfully so, given his off-the-charts measurables as the brand-new behemoth in the NFL. An equally intriguing prospect in Morris has also arrived via Roseman's sixth-round selection of the Georgia road grader, who must work on his consistency to truly unlock his untapped potential. New offensive line coach Chris Kuper has a pair of remarkably high-upside rookies to work with, but both need big-time development.
