This offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles has been as crazy and drama-filled as any team in the NFL has dealt with, and this was a playoff team in 2025.
Reports surfaced that Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown requested trades multiple times in 2025, and another report indicated players are upset that the leadership won't hold Jalen Hurts accountable publicly. There is also the coaching situation: Sean Mannion replaced Kevin Patullo as offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio nearly retired from coaching but was talked into staying one more year. That doesn't even include offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland leaving the team after 13 years and the looming retirement decisions for Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson.
It's been too much for Eagles fans to handle at this point, and they might finally have some relaxation before the NFL Combine and free agency begin. That is leaving many to think about what truly needs to happen this offseason for the Eagles to be considered a success.
Three words can describe the upcoming Eagles offseason
ESPN put together their power rankings right after the Super Bowl, with the Eagles being ranked eighth going into the 2026 season. Eagles beat reporter Tim McManus had to pick three words to describe the team's offseason, with his being "Unlock the offense."
"The most expensive offensive roster in the NFL fell flat last season, ranking 21st in points per game (21.1) and 19th in offensive efficiency (48.55). They also had more three-and-outs than any other team. Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo was replaced by 33-year-old Sean Mannion, the former Packers QB coach with only two years of coaching experience. Mannion played for Sean McVay and is expected to bring a more modern approach to a system that has grown stale. There are major questions facing the group, though, including whether A.J. Brown will continue on in Philly or if the front office will feel compelled to trade him."
This was an offense ranked in the bottom 15 in all major categories, including total offense, passing, rushing, and scoring, so change was coming. Mannion is completely changing the offensive style, as he appears to be looking to Sean McVay's wide-open approach to help the Eagles move away from being a running team.
Eagles fans can expect less predictability than they did with Patullo. No more are the days of hitch routes and runs on first and second down right up the middle of the line in the second half of games with a lead.

All these changes on offense are scary, but necessary to get the Eagles back on track, so fans should be encouraged by how the offensive staff is shaping up and by how the 2026 season could be a completely different-looking Philly team.
