The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to add any weapons to an offense that desperately needs them after a rough go at it in 2025.
Philly's offense was ranked in the bottom 15 in every major offensive category, including total offense, passing, rushing, and points. The Eagles are about to lose their WR3 Jahan Dotson in free agency, and the rumor mill is working in overdrive with A.J. Brown potentially being traded in the offseason.
This is prompting many to consider who the Eagles could bring in as the next great wide receiver or which veteran could contribute from Day 1. PHLY Eagles analyst Fran Duffy likes one pending free agent to join the team and help them out.
"Brandin Cooks becomes a Philadelphia Eagle one month from now."
Could Brandin Cooks help the Eagles out in 2026?
Cooks might be one of the most underappreciated wide receivers in the NFL over the last 12 years, as he has gone for over 1,000 yards in six of those seasons. He has not hit that mark since 2021 and has been more of a WR2 and WR3 in most offenses since, as he has played for six teams.
If the Eagles end up trading Brown, Cooks could step in as a WR2, and DeVonta Smith could end up being the WR1, like most fans expect him to be. That would leave the door open for either a rookie to be selected or Darius Cooper move up as the WR3 on the team.
There is also the possibility that Brown stays, which every Eagles fan knows the general public doesn't want to happen. and him and Smith stay as the top two guys. Cooks could go into the slot as the WR3 and be the perfect weapon for Philly.
Cooks still has the speed and big-play ability to help any football team, even if it isn't on a consistent basis. He can even be the new veteran leader for the Eagles, helping out when things seem crazy in Philly.

One big thing with Cooks, as well: at 32, he's a cheap option in free agency for the Eagles, so they can save money on a receiver while getting an impact player for Jalen Hurts. This could be the win-win situation the Eagles need on offense for the 2026 season.
