Eagles are making it obvious they're looking for Dallas Goedert's successor in draft

There is a new option for that.

The Philadelphia Eagles are making sure they have their bases covered at tight end before deciding how to move forward with the position.

This offseason, the Eagles have been busy with bringing back Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra on one-year deals. They also signed Johnny Mundt and Stone Smartt to add to an already crowded tight end room with Goedert, Calcaterra, and Cameron Latu.

Eagles reporter Anthony DiBona was told by a source that the team met with Utah tight end Dallen Bentley via a virtual meeting. Bentley also spoke with the Eagles at the East-West Shrine Bowl game.

Eagles looking at potentially adding Dallen Bentley to the tight end room

Bentley had a breakout season at Utah last year as he caught 48 passes for 620 yards and six touchdowns. He was a third-team All-Big 12 selection in 2025.

If the Eagles wanted to wait in the later rounds to get a tight end, Bentley might be the perfect option for them. They don't need to rush on getting a tight end in the early rounds unless Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq ends up dropping out of the top 15, and then the Eagles might have to consider trading up for him.

Otherwise, Bentley is a solid option that made big strides in his ability to catch the football. The limited playing time he had in his college career might hold some teams back from picking him sooner.

Goedert is still playing some great football for the Eagles, so the concerns at tight end are not going to be too bad in Philly for the moment. Once they address some of their other needs, like the offensive line and wide receiver, the Eagles can shift their focus to tight end and consider Bentley as an option.
