Philadelphia Eagles fans have waited three days to finally get some news on who will be interviewing for the open offensive coordinator role....and it was quite the letdown.
After removing Kevin Patullo as the offensive coordinator in his first and only year in the role, the Eagles have been rumored to be interested in guys like Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter did not name either guy as the first interview for the Eagles, but instead brought in former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.
Over the last two years, Robinson has been running the Falcons' offense, which saw good success in 2024, finishing in the top 10 in total yards and 13th in points. Atlanta took a step back offensively, ranking 14th in total yards and 24th in points.
How should Eagles fans feel about Robinson coming in for an interview?
The most attractive thing about Robinson for the offensive coordinator role is that he is from the Sean McVay coaching tree with the Los Angeles Rams. From 2019 through 2023, he coached everything from the quarterbacks to the passing game coordinator, winning a Super Bowl with the Rams.
Atlanta was able to do the one thing that Philadelphia was unable to do under Patullo as offensive coordinator: move the ball down the field. Robinson also had good success running the ball, as the Falcons ranked in the top 10 in rushing each season he was offensive coordinator.
One problem with Robinson is he wasn't able to develop Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. as the starter and Kirk Cousins regressed in his career under Robinson. When he was in Los Angeles, they had Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford, who were already established in their careers.
The Eagles need someone who is going to push Jalen Hurts to be better and develop as a passer. If they are unable to do that, Philly will have to know if they need to make a tough choice at quarterback or not.

This is not a bad interview to have as Robinson can do some good things, but the Eagles fan base wants more of McDaniel and Daboll to get them excited for the 2026 season. It remains to be seen who else they bring in, but this is not the greatest start to the interview process for the Eagles.
