Jalen Carter's contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles was great news at training camp, but it does raise some big questions for the franchise going forward.
Carter signed a four-year, $152 million contract extension, which is now the highest defensive tackle contract in NFL history. This will keep him in Philly through the 2032 season.
One player who has been brought up as the biggest loser from the Carter news is defensive tackle Moro Ojomo, who is in the final year of his rookie contract and seeking a new contract. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio made it known to general manager Howie Roseman what he needs to do with Ojomo's contract.

Should Howie Roseman try to keep Moro Ojomo on the Eagles past 2026?
Last season, Ojomo finished with 38 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, six tackles for loss, six sacks, and one pass deflection in 17 games. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 72.9, ranking 19th out of 134 eligible interior defensive linemen.
Ojomo is a great talent who has played well for the Eagles since being selected in the seventh round of the 2023 draft. He stepped up last year to help in the starting lineup when Carter was dealing with multiple injuries.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, though, they need to make sure they are saving money on other players. Ojomo is going to command $20 million to $25 million per year, which is going to make things harder for Roseman to come up with the money.
This Eagles team has a lot of young talent that will need contract extensions in the next two years. Guys like Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, Tyler Steen, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Hurts, and more. Not all those guys will get contract extensions, but there are a few names to keep in mind.
There's not enough money to convince the Eagles that Ojomo needs to be re-signed on a longer-term contract. This is going to be the same situation Philly went through with Milton Williams last offseason, so they need to make sure to pick the right guys to bring back and let walk.
Fangio has other options at defensive tackle that could make Ojomo's potential absence less impactful. Looking at Byron Young and Ty Robinson, they could be perfect players that can develop and step in. Young has already played well when he has been in, and Robinson needs more time to become a good rotational player.

Roseman's next focus is no doubt on Mitchell and DeJean, so Ojomo will be the odd man out. Fangio may want him, but money talks, and the Eagles just can't justify the potential financial hit.
