The one certainty with the Philadelphia Eagles, year after year, was that offensive line coach and run game coordinator Jeff Stoutland would have his unit ready to go.

Since joining the staff in 2013, Stoutland has coached one of the best offensive lines and running games in the NFL, but 2025 saw a massive departure from that with inconsistent linemen play and a running game that finished outside the top 10 for the first time in the Nick Sirianni era. While speaking on his unCovering the Birds podcast, The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane shared some insights into what happened in 2025 with Stoutland and how his future might be looking different.

"From what I understand, at some point last season, that was pretty much taken away from him. Now, I don't know if that was because he wasn't getting the job done or they just decided, 'Okay, we're better at doing this.'"

"I would be surprised if he returns as a run game coordinator. Even if they bring in someone who does run his type of scheme, I think that's possibly something that could be taken away from him and he'll come back as the offensive line coach and be able to focus strictly on getting these guys to play better."

Will Jeff Stoutland even be back in Philly for the 2026 season?

The offensive line in Philadelphia was notably worse than it had been in the past, thanks to injuries to Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Lane Johnson. Their continuity never meshed, which caused major issues for the running game and the offense.

While McLane made sure to note that not everything falls on Stoutland, a change in him not being the run game coordinator and potentially permanently losing that title moving forward is eye-opening. This certainly put his future with the Eagles and the NFL in question.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter left Philadelphia in a blaze after ending a radio interview with a large hint of more than just offensive coordinator news coming for the Eagles in the next week. Many think Stoutland could be retiring amid speculation.

Whoever the Eagles' new offensive coordinator is could determine whether Stoutland still has a job, as he has survived two coaching changes and multiple offensive coordinator changes. Will Stoutland stick around, or is this the end for one of the greatest offensive line coaches in NFL history?
