New Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion will have his work cut out for him as he has to rebuild an offense that was in the bottom 15 in rushing, passing, scoring, and total offense, with most of the work needing to be done through the 2026 NFL Draft.
After the retirement scares given by Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson, many draft experts believe the Eagles will look at the offensive line in the first round. ESPN's Jordan Reid agreed with this strategy as he has the Eagles taking Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu with the 23rd overall pick in his latest two-round mock draft.
"Future Hall of Fame right tackle Lane Johnson sat out eight games in 2025 and will be 36 next season. The Eagles are known for planning ahead and drafting heir apparents to long-term veterans before they are needed. Lomu has plenty of potential and can play either tackle spot, but he must improve his play strength. Ideally, he'll get time to increase that strength while learning behind Johnson, but Johnson's age and durability concerns could force Lomu to play earlier than expected."
Eagles focus on offense in first and second round of mock draft
Lomu is coming off his best college season with Utah, as he was named a first-team All-Big 12 selection at the left tackle position. On 383 pass blocking snaps, he allowed just eight pressures, two quarterbacks, and zero sacks. While run blocking is something he will have to improve on at the NFL level, Lomu is an elite pass blocker who would benefit from learning behind Johnson for a year.
Reid continued his mock draft as he looked at the second round as the time for the Eagles to address the tight end position with the departures of Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, and Kylen Granson. With that second-round pick, the Eagles select Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers.
"Stowers was one of the biggest stories at the combine, leaping 45½ inches in the vertical. He could be Dallas Goedert's successor as a pass-catching tight end who can play inline or flex outside to create mismatches."
Stowers was the John Mackey Award winner as the nation's best tight end as well as an unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC selection in 2025. He finished the season with 62 receptions for 769 yards and four touchdowns. After a combine with a 4.51-second 40-yard dash, 45.5-inch vertical, and an 11-foot-3-inch broad jump, the athleticism jumps out as a reason why Stowers would be a Day 1 starter in the Eagles' offense.

If this is how the draft would go for the Eagles, Mannion would be one very happy camper with the talent coming in.
