There will be all kinds of names included in the search for the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator role, but this new one might have some in the fan base nervous.
Eagles fans are more searching for big names like Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll for that job, but instead, are landing small names who haven't exactly had the best success in the NFL. ESPN's Adam Schefter has added current Miami Dolphins senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik to that list, as the Eagles have requested to interview with him.
Slowik is known for serving as the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator in 2023 and 2024, leading the development of quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Texans' offense ranked in the top 13 in yards and points in 2023, but dipped in 2024, finishing 22nd in yards and 19th in points.
Bobby Slowik feels more like a swing and miss for the Eagles
The Eagles will bring in plenty of candidates with a wide range of backgrounds. They are looking for someone with experience as a play caller and who has run a whole offense on his own.
While Slowik technically has that experience, he took a lot of blame for how the Texans' offense and Stroud regressed from Year 1 to Year 2. Even while in Miami this past season, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa regressed badly in 2025, posting his worst season to date with 15 interceptions.
Slowik hasn't exactly gotten the job done with making offenses perform well on a consistent experience. The Eagles need someone who can take them from a bottom-15 unit in 2025 to one of the best in the NFL again, after the disaster of Kevin Patullo in his lone season as offensive coordinator.

This feels more like a "fill-in-the-candidate-pool-with-everyone" kind of thing with Slowik, but Eagles fans will have to wait and see what comes of it.
