Nobody can stop talking about the possibility of the Philadelphia Eagles trading their star wide receiver A.J. Brown away in the offseason.
Where there's smoke, there's fire, as Brown asked to be traded multiple times throughout the season after having the worst year statistically in Philly with 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown hasn't been happy, but the financial part of his contract and finding the right trade compensation are holding the Eagles back from striking a deal.
The crew at PHLY caught up with The Athletic's Dianna Russini at the Super Bowl media festivities, where they talked to her about what kind of trade compensation they could potentially get for Brown. Russini shared what she heard at the trade deadline, and it's not going to be great news for Eagles fans.
"I was poking around on it before the trade deadline, just in case they did it, I think they get a second rounder."
Eagles could get a second-round pick for A.J. Brown in a trade
A three-time Pro Bowler who is just 28 years old, and the most the Eagles could get for him is a second-round pick? Talk about a gut punch.
Philly would love to get more than that, as last year the trade compensation at a minimum was a first-round pick. Of course, the Eagles didn't want to trade Brown away, coming off a Super Bowl victory and knowing how important he is to the offense.
It would be tough to say Brown regressed in 2025, but there are signs he wasn't the same. The deep balls to him were just not hitting as well as they usually did, and that NFC Wild Card playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers saw him have two really bad drops in the game.
Now, to be fair to Brown, Kevin Patullo's play-calling was not good, as he made Brown run multiple hitch routes each game. That kind of work resulted in Patullo getting removed as the offensive coordinator and replaced with Sean Mannion.

It's a bitter pill to swallow for Eagles fans to get rid of a great wide receiver like Brown for just a measly second-round pick. At this point, even with the financial side of things being considered, things might be bad to the point that the Eagles just need to rip the band-aid off and move on from Brown, but anything can happen at this point.
