The big mystery coming out of Philadelphia is Eagles fans trying to figure out why no one wants the offensive coordinator job.
It's something that hasn't been figured out yet with Mike McDaniel, Brian Daboll, and Zac Robinson, all guys who interviewed for the job but did not take it. Everyone is wondering if all the offensive coordinator jobs out there are better than the Eagles' one.
ESPN shared a ranking of the top four offensive coordinator openings in the NFL. Of the four, the Eagles' is, as fans expected, at the bottom of the rankings.
"This job has been the equivalent of the Defense Against the Dark Arts job at Hogwarts, with a new coach occupying the role in each of the past four seasons,' ESPN NFL analyst Ben Solak said. "In other words, anyone taking the gig should do so without dropping deep roots. Expectations are high for any coordinator in Philadelphia, as the Eagles have enjoyed multiple Super Bowl runs in the Jalen Hurts era. But if the split from wide receiver A.J. Brown continues to fester, scheming that offense gets much trickier. It's not a bad job, but it is a charged one. There's a reason other spots are getting filled first."
Is the Eagles' OC job as bad as everyone is making it out to be?
Eagles fans are still trying to process the idea that many coaches wouldn't want this job. It has everything they would want from the team, from being a winner to the offensive weapons to work with, including Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown (maybe), and DeVonta Smith. Even the offensive line is among the best in the NFL (when healthy), with Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, and Cam Jurgens.
There are some question marks about this unit heading into 2026 as Eagles fans figure out what will happen with Brown's trade rumors and Johnson's potential retirement. There is also the question of Hurts and whether he would be open to running the ball more and be able to learn a new offense once again.

These coaching candidates also need to understand that they have Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, who can literally get them any player they want because he's a genius. This is not as bad a job as everyone is making it out to be. Right?
