There is significant pressure on the Philadelphia Eagles in 2026 to turn things around, especially on offense.
The Eagles moved on from Kevin Patullo as offensive coordinator and replaced him with first-time play caller Sean Mannion, as he will be tasked with getting quarterback Jalen Hurts and the unit rolling as soon as possible. That warning was at least sent to Mannion via Sports Illustrated's Eva Geitheim, who wrote a single sentence that would describe the Eagles' quarterback situation.
"After Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ passing game struggled in 2025, the pressure is on new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion to turn things around or risk becoming public enemy No. 1 in Philadelphia."
Sean Mannion faces pressure to get Eagles' offense to improve in 2026
Everything that Eagles fans need to know about the offense is in four key team stats:
- 24th in total offense (311.2 yards per game)
- 23rd in passing (194.3 yards per game)
- 18th in rushing (116.9 yards per game)
- 19th in scoring (22.3 points per game)
That means Mannion has the weight of the season on his shoulders to improve this offense. Their offensive line needs more depth to withstand injuries, and the skill players need to be set up in better positions, whether that's passing or running the ball.
Too many times last year, Patullo would run his hitch routes with the receivers and run the ball up the middle on first and second down in the second half with the lead. Or Patullo would go with the old reliable running back draw on third-and-long.
Mannion is already on the right track with completely changing the offense to be more modern and use the scheme that has made Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan successful over the last decade. This will include more motions, a more vertical passing game, and some unpredictable play calls to bring innovation to the offense.
Most importantly for Mannion, though, is that he has to get Hurts going early and bring a whole new side of him out on the field. Mannion has to work with Hurts and help him develop into a more consistent passer, instead of being known as the guy who barely throws for 3,000 yards in a season.

The real question is going to be whether Mannion can get this struggling passing game going in 2026, as he certainly has the weapons in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith to get it done.
