The Philadelphia Eagles might have a lot of needs in the 2026 NFL Draft, but the one that is more urgent for the next few years is on the offensive line.
Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson and left guard Landon Dickerson gave fans a scare this offseason when they considered retiring from football, but both have since announced on social media that they are coming back. It still leaves the door open for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to find a player in this year's draft that could replace Johnson when the time comes for him to retire.
One option the Eagles are considering is Clemson tackle Blake Miller, who confirmed with the media at the NFL Combine that he has met with the team. Miller shared more about his meeting with the Eagles and his desire to learn from Johnson.
“Being able to kind of go pick his brain, get his opinion on technique, and then also to how he approaches taking on some of the league's best rushers. I think that'd be awesome.”

Blake Miller makes sense as Lane Johnson's potential replacement
Miller is a two-time first-team All-ACC selection at Clemson, earning it in 2024 and 2025, and a second-team All-ACC selection in 2023. Last season, Pro Football Focus had him graded out at a 76.8, ranking him 32nd out of 629 tackles in the nation as he allowed just 14 pressures, two quarterback hits, and two sacks in 482 pass blocking snaps.
Most mock drafts have Miller going somewhere late in the first round of the draft. He would be a good landing spot for the Eagles, as he is a great pass blocker with some technical work needed on his blocking.
He could be a Day 1 starter for a lot of teams, but the Eagles wouldn't rush him onto the field, as they can just work with him on his development, and he can learn behind Johnson. There's no telling when Johnson is going to call it a career, but his foot injury last season certainly has him much closer to retirement than where he was last offseason, when he shared that he had more years in him.

The Eagles are in a good spot this draft, with needs that can be addressed by re-signing players, and they can use the draft to find the future starters on the team. Miller is just one of the many prospects who make up a very deep class.
