With the conclusion of the 2025 NFL season, NFL outlets have begun releasing rankings of various position groups based on performance, including Philadelphia Eagles players. As usual, quarterbacks continue to garner either the most praise or the most criticism, whether it be warranted or not.

Pro Football Focus released its list of the top quarterbacks from this past season via writer Mason Cameron, ranking Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts at number 10. Recently, NFL.com listed Hurts as the 19th-best quarterback during this past season, citing his inconsistent play.

PFF's Mason Cameron takes a sympathetic route towards Hurts, citing more of the good this season than the bad. While Hurts may receive plenty of criticism for his play, the external factors include an offensive line ravaged by injuries, a diminished rushing attack/Saquon Barkley's regression, and a disgruntled A.J. Brown.

"Hurts has been frequently — and perhaps unnecessarily — criticized for the Eagles’ drop in offensive production following their run to the Super Bowl last season. The 27-year-old signal caller doesn’t get the recognition he deserves for his high-ceiling, high-floor approach to the game. Hurts has showcased the ability to shred opposing defenses with elite throws, evidenced by his 94.9 PFF passing grade in Week 7, which ranked as the second-highest graded game by a quarterback this season. He also produced the fourth-lowest turnover-worthy play rate (2.0%) in the NFL."

Jalen Hurts ranks as 10th best QB in NFL according to PFF

While Cameron does highlight the good of Hurts' play this past year, he fails to acknowledge Hurts' shortcomings, even though the Eagles won despite him. Hurts' 2025 season may have had its "highs", but it was certainly filled with several ugly moments.

Hurts owns a record of winning two games without completing a pass in the second half, while also having a game in which he was credited with five turnovers that led to a loss against the Chargers, and finished the year with a loss against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card round.

It's obvious that Hurts is a capable NFL quarterback with the potential to be consistently elite in this league. The Eagles made several changes on offense, most notably firing offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and hiring Sean Mannion, in hopes of maximizing Hurts' skill set.

With the Eagles fully committed to Hurts and seemingly a new scheme in place, the franchise QB should be on the rise this coming season, hopefully rebounding from an underwhelming 2025.
