Eagles sign another wide receiver (but the A.J. Brown connection can't be ignored)

Is there something there?

The Philadelphia Eagles weren't done adding talent to the wide receiver room after signing Marquise "Hollywood" Brown.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Eagles signed Elijah Moore to a one-year deal. Moore has played five seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills.

Last season with the Bills, Moore caught nine passes for 112 yards while adding another 24 rushing yards and one touchdown in nine games. 2025 was the first season in Moore's NFL career in which he finished under 446 receiving yards in a season.

Eagles yet again add another wide receiver with Elijah Moore

The reality with Moore signing is that he might not play a major role in the offense in 2026, depending on the situation at wide receiver. Eagles fans know for sure that DeVonta Smith and Hollywood Brown will be playing on the field, but A.J. Brown is the biggest question mark with his trade rumors.

It is worth noting, though, that A.J. Brown and Moore have a deep past. They were both teammates at Ole Miss and have been so close that they've almost called each other family.

How does that affect a potential trade with Brown? It may not, but it is interesting that they are bringing in a player who is close with Brown and might actually do some good with making sure he has a clear head throughout the season.

Ultimately, Brown could still end up being traded, and this whole conversation is for nothing, but it's interesting that Moore gets added to the roster after Hollywood Brown gets signed as well. It could signal some competition at wide receiver between Moore, Darius Cooper, and Johnny Wilson.

Every move the Eagles make will somehow get connected to A.J. Brown in some capacity, but signing a friend of his in Moore is an interesting move from Philly.
