23 intriguing stats ahead of the Eagles Week 1 game versus Patriots

It's hard to know what to expect during opening-day games. That is certainly true of the Eagles' Week 1 affair versus Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

Regardless of the intensity of his training camps, or lack thereof, Nick Sirianni's teams have started strong with well-coached Week 1 wins.

Nick Sirianni has only two seasons of head coaching experience under his belt. Initially, he was flamed pretty thoroughly for his less-than-intense training camp strategy. It's hard to argue with the results though. Last season, he led his team to the Super Bowl, and he boasts a 2-0 record on opening day.

8. Under Nick Sirianni, the Eagles are 2-0 in Week 1 games.

That’s it. That’s all we really have on Sirianni’s record in Week 1 games. It’s a limited sample, but you can’t be mad about the results. Being undefeated with rest is awesome. His teams have shown some offensive consistency in those two games too.

9. Under Nick Sirianni, the Eagles have put up 32 points (against Atlanta) and 38 points (against Detroit) in Week 1.

That’s a mondo 35 points per game. With the Eagles' offense looking like they’re going to be as good as, if not better than, they were in 2022, that 35-point average seems like an achievable goal. The defense is the huge inconsistent question mark here.

10. In 2021, the Eagles’ defense only allowed 6 points in Week 1 the Atlanta Falcons.

It was a tremendous start to the now maligned Jonathon Gannon era. Also, the Falcons team was truly awful.

11. In 2022, the Eagles’ defense allowed 35 points in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions.

This was foreshadowing how the 2022 season would eventually end. The Eagles won this game 38-35 and lost the Superbowl 38-35. Wild...

12. WORTH NOTING: In 2021, Sean Desai’s defense with the Chicago Bears allowed 34 points in Week 1.

They were pretty bad. the 22nd-ranked defense on Pro Football Reference to be exact. To be fair, in this game, they played the eventual Super Bowl Champion, Los Angeles Rams.
