Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions took a major leap forward last season and, in the process, captured the hearts of football fans everywhere. We've seen them enjoy good seasons before, though inconsistently. Can they prove their most recent run was a sign of things to come and not a one-year fireworks show? Something tells us they'll again be part of the discussion.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson may leave by way of free agency. His one-year rental didn't lead to much as a torn pectoral short-circuited his run in the Motor City. He has been linked to Philly during offseason discussions, but most Birds fans would tell you they'd rather have Simmons.

Regardless of what happens, Detroit needs someone to team with Brian Branch. Free safety Tracy Walker and fellow safety Will Harris are also impending free agents.

Detroit has a few coins to spend, and Simmons could be a secondary-altering addition though cornerback may be a bigger need.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are an ascending team after reaching the Divisional Round of the playoffs last season. Their quarterback is ascending. Their roster is young and ascending.

They certainly need help at the quarterback position though. Jonathan Owens, Darnell Savage, Zayne Anderson, and Christian Uphoff are all impending free agents as is free safety Johnathan Ford. Keep an eye on them. They could make a run at Simmons.

Washington Commanders?

New direction... New ownership group... We'll see if they're the same old Washington football franchise.

Historically, they've never been shy about spending coins. We'll see if they do so this offseason. They need help at EDGE, linebacker, cornerback, and safety.
