Devin White is seemingly a healthy scratch for Eagles Week 2 game vs. Falcons
Devin White was one of the Philadelphia Eagles' prized acquisitions of the 2024 NFL offseason. Seemingly, a low-risk, high reward signing at the time, it felt as though this story might have a happy ending.
There's still time, but we have been delivered a plot twist, a curveball if you will. Two weeks into the regular season, that story has yet to grow legs and take off. He'll miss his second game in as many weeks.
Devin White is seemingly a healthy scratch for the Eagles' Week 2 game vs. the Falcons.
Devin White didn't travel with the Eagles to Brazil. An ankle injury was the issue. Somewhere along the lines, we learned that even had he traveled, Nakobe Dean would have been the starter.
Vic Fangio confirmed that Dean was the starter during a Week 2 presser. White offered a response, one showing his maturity (and a team-first attitude).
That's when it happened. While working his way back from injury, he practiced all week. It seemed he was trending toward playing.
Philly announced their Week 2 inactives. White was a healthy scratch. We hope and we pray that the theory is this is precautionary and that this isn't a sign that the Eagles have given up on him.
White was a former first-round selection of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They won Super Bowl LV with him on the roster, and he was one of the best players on the field.
They gave up on him last season, and that's why he's in Philly. Our fingers were crossed that the change of scenery would fire him up.
But, for now, it's fair to ask the question. Might he turn out to be a bust and one of the more regrettable offseason additions? We hope not. Our hope is somehow pays dividends at some point this season.
