Eagles RB Saquon Barkley offers honest feedback about his Hard Knocks depiction
"I didn't really watch too much of it. I watched the one episode. I think it was episode three. But, like I said on a podcast. I give respect to Hard Knocks. They did a really good job. I think it was a unique way to see and, you know, how free agency in a building and NFL for fans. So, yeah... I got to see a little bit (of the show) prior (to its release). So, when it all came out, it was unique. It was different".
Those were the words of Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley following the first day of training camp practice when asked if he watched HBO's Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants. Perhaps you have heard. There's a documentary airing weekly about Philly's oldest rival.
Depending on who you speak with for feedback, Big Blue's stab at reality television has been graded as everything from an intriguing watch to a comedy of errors. Birds fans have tuned in for several reasons.
Two of the most obvious reasons for viewing is HBO has given us a chance to pull the curtain back on the G-Men's front office. We also saw some televised intel on what led to Saquon's departure.

So, how does Saquon Barkley feel about his depiction on HBO's Hard Knocks series?
Whenever there are opportunities like this to peak into worlds where we aren't often invited, immediate questions will creep into our minds. Is the final edit truly representative of what actually happened? What are we to take from this?
How does Saquon Barkley feel about how he was portrayed and the final cut's representation of the facts? Who better to ask than Saquon, right?
"I saw (some of) the trailer. You know... At the end of the day, I also think, you know, they have control of the edits and they could have painted me to look really bad. They kind of gave the truth. That's why I said it was a unique way for a fan to dive into it and see it from that viewpoint. Hard Knocks was unique, but that's in the past. I lived it. I got to watch it, and now, I'm ready to focus on what matters most and that's being here with my teammates and getting better each day".
Saquon laments that he was unaware of being recorded during the conversation in which he told the Giants that he wanted to remain in New York all along. He does, however, acknowledge that he was aware that Giants owner John Mara said he'd be sick if the star tailback landed in Philly. He also believes he was portrayed accurately and fairly.
"In my life (and) in my world, it wasn't that deep. It wasn't (as) intense as it (came across). Like I said, Hard Knocks did a really good job. They put out there what happened. It wasn't really much. And, at that point, it is what it is. (I'm just ready to) move on."
Saquon is right. Let's move on, shall we? Firmly entrenched in Eagles camp now, it's going to be fun to watch him ball out in green.
