Eagles will no longer pursue recently mentioned assistant coaching target per report
Well... Let's just say that nothing is official in the NFL until it's official. It appears the Philadelphia Eagles are backing off of their pursuit of the 38-year-old Karl Scott. He's no longer being considered for a role on their defensive coaching staff. We had assumed he'd be Philly's new defensive backs coach though no one truly knew what his role was going to be.
He'll remain as Seattle's senior defensive assistant/defensive passing game coordinator after reportedly being retained by new Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald even though it was reported earlier this week that he had “been on the verge of being hired by the Eagles".
Thank Matt Zenitz from 247Sports. He was first with the report.
The Eagles roll on, seemingly with D.K. McDonald as their defensive backs coach.
Philly is, however, expected to proceed with adding Clint Hurtt to their coaching roster at this time. there have been no reports of there being any changes to that decision.
Still, as stated earlier, no one should count any chickens before you see them hatch, As evidenced by the most recent coaching update and as stated earlier. Nothing is official until contracts are signed and you read an official announcement. We do have a few questions though.
Are the Eagles searching for a new DBs coach to replace D.K. McDonald or will they roll with him? Then again, the plan could have been to hang on to D.K. and add a more experienced assistant coach to work with him. Time will tell. We'll see what happens when it actually happens.
