Fever dream scenarios involving the Eagles during their 2023 NFL campaign

We have a lot of high hopes for the Eagles' 2023 season. Let's take a look at some of the highest (and most unhinged).

Howie Roseman's success precipitates the firing of another NFL general manager.

Last year we saw Howie Roseman make a trade with the Tennesee Titans to land A.J. Brown during the first round of the NFL Draft. Fast forward to December 4th of 2022. It was that day that we saw Brown scorch his former team to the tune of eight receptions, 119 yards, two touchdowns, and the humiliation of an opposing cornerback, Kristian Fulton. The NFL has to find a way to make that a stat.

We enter exhibit A into evidence.

Let's hit the fast-forward button again, this time to December 6th of 2022. Two days after A.J. Brown's revenge tour, the Titans fired then-general manager Jon Robinson. It's seemingly no coincidence that the guy who was 50% responsible for the Brown trade lost his job, like, almost immediately after the game. Talk about something blowing up in someone's face.

Howie wouldn't get another G.M. fired, would he? Let's just say he did. The most likely victim this year might be Brad Holmes of the Detroit Lions. Howie probably wouldn’t be mentioned in conjunction with this one. Many of Holmes' wounds are self-inflicted, his botching of the NFL Draft's first round for instance, but if D’Andre Swift turned out to be a rock star in Philly's offense, a spotlight could fall on the Lions' G.M. Keep in mind the fact that Detroit's asking price was a 2023 seventh-round pick and a 2024 fifth-round pick.

Swift won't enjoy the luxury of a revenge game as A.J. Brown did last season, but if a career year is on the horizon, as was discussed on the Inside The Iggles Live Podcast (Like and Subscribe), Holmes is going to have questions to answer.

It doesn’t seem like there’s any real reason to dislike Brad Holmes and none of this is meant as any disrespect to him, but we're in favor of a repeat of last season. Let’s do it again. Let’s run it back and ruin another guy’s career.
