Jalen Hurts wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week but is left off PFF's highest-graded QB ranking

PFF's five highest-graded quarterbacks from Week 8 features a list that doesn't include Eagles star Jalen Hurts. We throw the challenge flag.

In Week 8 of the 2023-2024 NFL season, Jalen Hurts helped lead his Philadelphia Eagles teammates into one of our great nation's most well-known disaster research areas a.k.a. FedEXField. He walked out having led them to a come-from-behind victory on the heels of one of the best performances of his young career. It was most certainly the best game he has had this season.

Throw in a few other extenuating circumstances (QB1's bone bruise, playing a divisional opponent), and Jalen's performance becomes even more impressive. Four TDs... a 76-percent completion percentage... Zero interceptions. Yep, as the youngsters would say he was 'HIM'.

He was named as NFC Offensive Player of the Week as a result.

Here's where heart-stopping moments give way to head-scratching analysis. Our friends at Pro Football Focus, as they always do, named a list of their five highest-graded offensive signal-callers from Week 8's action.

Take a look at this list. Let us know if anyone is missing.

We were going to let this ride. As you see, we didn't. We have no choice but to throw the challenge flag.

There are more important topics to discuss, but PFF leaving Jalen Hurts off of their list of the top five Week 8 quarterbacks is a gross oversight.

Dak Prescott... Josh Allen... Kirk Cousins... Joe Burrow... Trevor Lawrence... All are talented in their own right. All helped lead their teams to impressive victories on Sunday, but were any of these guys better than Jalen?

Okay, PFF's stat engine is admittedly hard to understand sometimes, but we aren't seeing the logic in this one at all. How is Jalen Hurts not on this list?

Okay, Philly's QB1 was credited with a fumble. Maybe that had something to do with this, but Dak threw an interception Josh Allen did the same. Jalen, to his credit, didn't throw any.

Allen scored a rushing TD. Dak didn't even do that, but like Jalen, Dak threw four TD passes. But, again... Jalen didn't throw an interception like Prescott did.

Let's compare Jalen Hurts' numbers to the other three guys:

Jalen Hurts: 29/38, 76.3 completion pct., 4 TDs, 0 INTs, 135.7 rating, 1 fumble
Kirk Cousins: 23/31, 74.2 comp pct., 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 122 rating
Joe Burrow: 2/32. 87.5 comp pct, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 134.8 rating
Trevor Lawrence: 24/32, 75 comp pct, 1 TD, 1 INT, 100.0

They say people lie and numbers don't. We can't figure this one out. Sure, there are more important topics to discuss, the Dallas Cowboys for instance, but Jalen should be on this list, right?

Oh well... What's that saying? No one likes us. We don't care. On to Week 9 and another huge showdown with Dallas.
